Value sets are lists of codes and corresponding terms, from NLM-hosted standard clinical vocabularies (such as SNOMED CT®, RxNorm, LOINC® and others), that define clinical concepts to support effective and interoperable health information exchange. The VSAC does not create value set content. The VSAC also provides downloadable access to all official versions of value sets specified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQMs). The VSAC is provided by the National Library of Medicine (NLM), in collaboration with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and CMS. Select the program release you wish to view. You need to be a member of the corresponding release manager group. Contact NLM if you have questions. The last column, Definition Selection Rule, displays: 1. "Steward" if the value set author or steward has assigned a specific value set definition version to this program release. This assignment should be rare. 2. "Previous" if no specific release assignment has been selected by the value set author or steward and you have made arrangements with the NLM VSAC team to technically designate your program release as an update to a previous release. In this case, VSAC will use the previous release's definition version of the value set for the upcoming release. This assignment should be rare. 3. "Latest" if the most recent published definition version of a value set is to be designated for this program release. This is the most common situation. This can happen if an author adds or removes a member value set in a grouping value set therefore, creating a new definition version of that grouping value set. The new value set member and the new grouping definition version must both be assigned to this release.
